High School Here We Come!

Today was the day that Capitol School's FIRST 8th grade class accepted their certificates and officially became High School freshman. The promotion ceremony was very touching and everyone looked fantastic in their formal outfits. Everyone at Capitol is so proud of our students and know that they will be successful in the future. You guys ROCK!

Cougars Basketball

Boys Basketball Team:
The class of '09 Basketball Team has been something special this year. This team was one of the top teams in the Phoenix Elementary School District #1 because of their overall team maturity and their great team attitude. The class that involved seniors Eddie C. Andre 3000, Cristian J., Jon L, Clarence Y., Abel R., Tony J., and Jesus L. were considered the best Cougar players in the school. Cristian J. states: "I think the main reason why this team had such a mature attitude was because of the coach. He made us all leaders in our own way. That is why we respect him and the game that made him who he is today".

The team was coached by First Year Coach Charles Terry. Who has dedicated the majority of his spare time to the first graduating class of 2009. All the boys thanked the coach Terry for all his efforts. Cristian J. states: "He was a very strict coach but at the same time he taught us how to have fun. Mr.Tee treated us with respect and dignity. I hope when he reads this he will know that he left a little bit of himself in each of our hearts."

Class of 09:
Eddie C: The MVP. Throughout the season Eddie has matched up with many of the great players in the area. His leadership has definitely proven he is ready for freshmen basketball next year. His strengths are his yo-yo style ball handling, his Mr. Clutch shooting, and his mean and stingy defense.

Andre A: Andre 3000. Dre has had a very productive season. Following a great practices, fans looked forward to watching him play. Everyone who watches basketball wants to see the long three and that is what Dre has to offer. His strengths are that her never gives up on a play, he has a nose for the ball, and that he is a very smart player.

Cristian J: The Heart & Soul of the Team. CJ has had one of the best seasons this year. CJ has played great defense all throughout the regular season and has performed very well during the Cougars short playoff run. CJ, unlike other top players in the district didn't focus his game on scoring, but more on defense, and rebounding, and passing. CJ states:" I believe I am a very good defensive player. I think I was the type of player that only wants the ball to distribute it to my open teammates.

Abel R.: The Dancing Bear. Abel had a very prosperous season while at Capitol. He rebounded and shot the ball extremely well this season. Though his senior season was cut in half due to an appendix problem, Abel stormed back and demolished opponents, taking them by storm. He used monstrous body and dancers feet to score with ease.

Tony J: The Comedian. TJ has proven to be one of thee most complete players in Capitol History. During his senior season he has not only been an all-star student but he has been the glue that held the team together everytime they lost. CJ states: "Tony has become the player whose personality you will remember forever." Tony dominated smaller teams with electrifying passes and artistic moves to the basket. Throughout the season Tony has been considered the best playground player on the squad.

Alfredo, I am 14 years old and I attend Capitol Elementary School.
My hobbies are playing basketball, running, swimming, and listening to music. Future goals I’m willing to accomplish are graduating from high school with enough college credits to get accepted to a great university and after that, I want to pursue my career as architect. One way I think I’m going to be remembered here at Capitol is as the quiet boy in 7th grade turning into the loudmouth in 8th grade. My all-time favorite hero is my dad because even though he didn't get a education, he still has accomplished a lot from all the difficult obstacles that came in his way.

I want to be remembered at Capitol for my accomplishments and for how much I’ve grown mentally and physically. One of my accomplishments that I’m really proud of is getting a high score in the Galileo reading test. I also want to be remembered as the quiet boy turning into a loudmouth. I also think of myself as being kind of an underdog because even though I didn’t play in any sports team, I got better at basketball with the help of my friends.

My hero is my dad because even though he didn’t finish high school, he still accomplished a lot in his life. Sometimes my dad and I get into a lot of arguments about my grades and my behavior, and many of those times I didn’t listen because I thought he was trying to make me mad, but now I realize that he’s just warning not to make the same mistakes he made in his past.

These past two years have been incredible for me because I got meet many wonderful people and friends and I also had lots of fun going to New York. I think this is the best school I’ve been too.

Hello my name is Chris P. I am 14 years old and going to Ceantral High School. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and was put in Kinder garden at Capitol Elementary. I made so many friends and have cool teacher's to guide me through to right road, but sometimes they dont work out so well. I am a graduating student from Capitol School, I am also known for just being me "Chris" I be myself and have fun being me, but sometimes it's not so good I have my rough times and I have my good times.



My Goal is to get a college degree for the dentist i would like to work on people's teeth or be a technician. There many thing's i've set my mind to but i can only pick one, wichever work's out best is what i will choose.



Sometime I come to school disappointed, and when i get here and see my friends i become happy because i know i can open up to my friends and teacher's.

Central. I want to go there because it’s a good school and besides it’s really big too. I like the programs they have, and I’m planning to get in the magnet program. I also want to go because you get lots of opportunities to become someone in life. The graduated percent is 77.2%. So I am going to Central next year in freshman year.Some of my goals are to go to high school, be able to graduate and best of all be able to get my credits and choose a career while im attending collage.

to get good grades in the four years of high school. My personal goal is to be able to live my dream. My dream is to become a famous fashion designer and be able to model my own clothes. In basketball I’ve only been one year, but still it was a very fun experience to live such as volleyball too.From my point of view, I am a very positive and humorous person who loves to learn, has awesome grades, and is also bilingual. Trying my best in all classes is what I like to do so I could get high scores and be an honors student.I don’t really have much negative things about me. The only things that come up to my mind are that I’m pretty short, sometimes talk too much, have a really bad attitude but don’t worry I know that education comes first, and I do not like to get bad grades. I can say that I am gonna have more memories hear then any other school, from the sad to the funny. I can say that one of the sad memories was when one of the coolest teachers had to leave due to personal issues. That was Mr.Fonua he was really cool..... My bad he is cool i loved when we would play and he would try to swat me but, you know me i had to cross him really bad that once I actually broke his ankles... j/k.

One of the fun times was when we had our first ever teacher V.S. student (basketball) .. You know we put in work and did our thang and of course smashed on them teachers...!!!! lol
After killing the teacher in the game we went to the cafeteria and ate some of that good food from that one restaurant.... Man I cant remember the name... lol

I cant wait till I go to Bioscience.....!! I'm not saying that i want to leave this school already, because to tell you the truth I'm a bit scared..:]

Besides all that i just wanted to say thx for everything teachers ......!!!!

My name is Karla Estrada, I am 14 and I was born in Phoenix Arizona. I am an eighth grader at Capitol School. I have been at Capitol since I was in kindergarten. I have been here for nine years. Around school I am known for some of the poetry that I have written in the blog. At capitol I am going to be remembered as one of the students that went to New York last year and this year one of the students that won a free trip to Washington D.C.

My favorite hobbies are to write and read books such as the Twilight series. The kind of music that I listen to is Alternative Rock. I also love to hang out with my friends which are really fun to hang out with. Blue, black, and red are my favorite colors.
